British Mountain Bike Series Round 5 - Newnham Park, Plymouth

The last in the BMBS for 2009 they really did save the best race to last. Once again well organised, Newnham delivered some great variations with good single track, uphill and the infamous pipeline (which Gary really enjoyed!).

Also a great opportunity to see the pros at work with Oli Beckinsale taking the win.

UK-Biking led from the start of the Open category with a one-two-three up the first climb. Rich rode a great race finishing a strong fourth while the Hall brothers battled it out over the whole three laps to finish within 10 seconds of each other - better luck next time Gary!

bmbs5_shepDespite colliding with his main rival, Darren finished a great fourth place. This also meant that Darren finished fourth overall in the British Mountain Bike Series for the season - well done Shep!

Simon rode with the grown ups - five laps in the Masters category - and finished a very good 27th while Garrett came 10th in the Grand Vets category. The team missed Mike Radburn who was unable to race.

A great end to a great summer of biking… bring on the Autumn series.

Here's a recap on how we did:

Garrett Hill - 10th Grand Veterans
Simon Lesser - 27th Masters
Richard Lang - 4th Open
Peter Hall - 10th Open
Gary Hall - 11th Open
Darren Shepherd - 4th Vets

Nearly a week later and the legs still aren’t right!

Wow, that is definitely one of the best xc mountain bike courses in the UK. Can see what everyone was raving about when they talked about this course..

Now, a few weeks off and onto winter training….
