It's been a week of road racing for the team with Naomi Shinkins taking the first win in our new kit at the New Forest CC open TT (cover photo: Eamonn Deane).

Naomi Shinkins was back on her Trek Speed Concept again this week doing the early 'round the Forest' open TT on Sunday morning. It was a cool breezy morning across the New Forest and Naomi was familiar with the course that goes through Lymington, Beaulieu, Lyndhurst and back towards New Milton having won the same event back in 2017. It was a case of keeping the head down and keep pushing trying to catch as many ladies as possible that set off ahead of her. Naomi managed to catch one fellow competitior who started 6 mins ahead and finish just 30 seconds behind another who was 3 minutes ahead. It was fastest lady for Naomi on the day finishing 2.5-9 minutes ahead of the other female competitors.

Christian Knapton and Phil Cole were crit racing this weekend. Christian raced the cat 3 in Portsmouth on Saturday and finished in the points in 9th place. Phil raced the RNMC series at Ilton, where the main bunch got away but Phil finished strong in the chase group.

Bob Ford and Jamie Witcher were in it for the long haul this weekend and raced the Abberleys 3 days stage race and the Isle of Man Youth Tour respectively. Bob started with a hill climb prologue but unfortunately was dropped mid race on the hilly stage 2 course so didn't start the 3rd stage. Jamie had a better weekend on the Isle of Man and we'll hear from himself how it went:

"Wasn’t feeling 100% and hills aren’t my thing. Stage 1 was the prologue,19th an ok result considering it was uphill all the way. Stage 2 was a very hilly road race, pushed hard to stay with the front group of 30 riders for two laps, but then dropped off and was solo for a few laps. Nothing left for the final two climbs, think I went from 27th to 40th by the the final climb! Stage 3 was more my sort of race, flat and fast. Felt ok, got in a break for a while, but we were pulled back. There was a crash on the final lap so that put an end to any chance of improving my result - finished 41st on the GC from 70."

Finally, one of our multi-sport riders, Jon Clemas, had a great result at the Bridport 10km. Jon was 4th overall in a time of 39.41. A super fast time and great result from Jon .... while he pushed his son in a buggy! Amazing performance from Jon, who knows how fast he can go without pushing a small child in front of him!

All these great results are not possible without the fantastic support we get from our sponsors, Manuel Builders, Gibbs and Dandy Bournemouth, Hill & Son Ford Service, IW Price & Partners, AJN Electrical and in8 Creative Design. And of course our title sponsors Ford Civil Engineering, Vitec Ceilings and Partitions Ltd and Bournemouth Cycleworks, who provide many our riders top quality Trek speed machines and Bontrager equipment across all disciplines to race on.
