UK Biking had strong team performances and results to match at the recent Southern Enduro off road event in West Sussex and the local Portmore Classic road race.

Marc McHale, Steve Atkins and Chris Archer were at the Southern Enduro event on the 24th September in West Sussex. There were tough conditions on the day with some really miserable weather early on and while this broke for better racing weather in the afternoon, the ground conditions were still pretty horrendous. The boys ploughed on and Marc was 4th vet on the day, Chris 7th vet and Steve 3rd in the masters category. This was round 4 of the series and with these great results Chris and Marc take 2nd and 3rd vet of the series respectively, with Steve 4th in the masters series. Strong performances across the series, well done guys!

Action from the Portmore Classic cat3/4 road race

There was a big team turn out at the local Portmore Classic cat 3/4 road race with our road riders Zak Snell, Luke Monahan and Chris Wilson. To add to the team some of our off-road riders, Sam Humphrey and Tony Revell, dusted off their road bikes to show they are just as good in the peleton as they are on the trails. It was lumpy 50 mile course with 8 laps of the circuit around Horton and with primes every lap it made for exciting racing. The team had a very strong performance, sticking with the main pack and staying out of trouble with a few crashes on the course to liven things up. The race was won by a two-man break who were off the front with 3 laps to go and Sam put in a brave solo effort to try and bridge the gap but it wasn't to be on the day. It was a strong finish with most of the team finishing in the main bunch with Zak top of the team with 10th place.

All these great results are not possible without the fantastic support we get from our sponsors, including Ford Civil Engineering, Vitec Ceilings and Partitions Ltd, Manuel Builders, Gibbs and Dandy Bournemouth, Hill & Son Ford Service, Mark Hooper Tree Care IW Price & Partners, in8 Creative Design and E3Coaching. And of course our title sponsor Bournemouth Cycleworks, who provide many our riders top quality Trek speed machines and Bontrager equipment across all disciplines to race on.
